I wrap a cord around my root chakra. The cord then travels through each of my legs, out the bottom of my feet and into the earth. The cords travel all the way through the earth to the earth's core, where they are solidly planted. I send negative energy through this cord into the earth's core. The earth can handle this energy because she has no judgements of negative and positive. And because my miniscule human problems are nothing to a being as massive and ancient as the earth. I am grounded by these cords into the earth, as I walk, I feel the solidness of the earth's center. I allow energy to travel back up the cord, back through my legs, back to my root chakra and then up my spine, through each of my chakras, chakras spinning and then out my crown into the sky, connecting heaven and earth. I am simply a channel.

But enough with the negativity, I'd rather focus on the really cool things going on in my life like the new Ovulators CD just put on the local shelf at KWVA 88.1, the best station in Eugene, and that I found this out by listeneing to Peter of Shudders' show monday. He featured the new CD, playing an Ovulator track just about every other song. Thanks so much Peter!! Sleve put the CD together and named it "the alien bootlegs". It includes our live performance on a radio station in LA, which was our last performance of our California tour, so we were pretty smooth and the recording sounds great. Plus it has a couple of our new songs recorded by Mr. Random when we performed at Sam Bonds with James West on the drums. Its exciting to have new stuff available at the station and even more exciting that some of our new stuff can already get airplay. Call and request us! Some of the tracks that weren't in the KWVA library before are "Stupid Anarchist Bullshit", "Vampire","Drag Queen" and "Circled in Flames". Thanks for your support bloggers!

Tonite is Yeltsin at Tiny Tavern. And LICK at the Indigo District.

Oh, is somebody listening?
Hey! Check out Mr. Random's site for a cool photo of me at Luckey's on Saturday, plus a couple more of the whole band. The Ovulators opened for Toad In the Hole, which ensures a crazy show, they bring in a huge ready to drink crowd. We played really well. Amy and Sydney showed up with bouquets of flowers to lay at our feet. It was a little stressful with Dori's bass falling off her shoulders just before "Circled in Flames" which has the rhythm section solo, but she pulled it off with a strip of duck tape, and with Mike Ronne in our back pocket, there was really nothing to worry about. Mike Ronne fits The Ovulators like a velvet cat suit... mmm...
I was cautious not to drink too much this night because the last gig was a little much for me. I wasn't sober, but close to it and I enjoyed this new outlook. Its a bit of a culture clash between the bisexual fuzzy friends that The Ovulators draw in and the more mainstream university scene that Toad In the Hole brings in. To make it more impressive, everyone from The Ovulators scene decided to make out with each other this night. By the end of the evening we were giving away tshirts and falling on top of each other.
Toad In the Hole was as impressive as always. They started the show with a bagpipe led procession through the bar, a really nice theatrical effect. The crowd was so massive I was too overwhelmed to get close, so I just stuck to the bar, huddled in safety with Melanie. If any band in town is going to make it big, its this one. Each members' musical skill is honed, and Matty is one of those front people who just has a magic to him that draws the crowd in and doesn't let them go. Its also been great to get to know the band members on a personal level... they were at Ten Mile with us.... we continue to bond a Eugene scene alliance. It was a fantastic night. I buzzed off it all the next day. The last couple of gigs have been hard on my relationship, but this time Phil and I went home exhausted, smiling and in love, which gave us the open door to have a completely incredible weekend together. oh, isn't life beautiful....

Been living off coffee these days, the milk in my morning latte is breakfast. There's just too much going on to surrender to sleep....
last night after practicing with High On Peeps, Phil, Dori and I headed over to Samurai Duck to catch Takimoto, but alas, they had already played. So, we headed down the street to Lick, DJ Lucious' regular weekly glam rock/electo clash gig. It's beginning to draw in regulars, and there were a good amount of people there. The Indigo District has a good menu, much fancier than your usual bar food and we ordered some tasty food. I continued to grill people for details on the Vet's Club gig, since I seemed to have missed some of the best details. I behaved and only had one drink, but still when I got home it was one am and not ready for sleep... so I was late to work in the morning and all my co workers laughed at me.
Whatever, sleep is overrated. Coffee is where its at.

Shawn Mediclast's hip and happening downtown store The Museum of Unfine Art is having its Grand Re-opening tomarrow (that's Friday) at 6:14. This shops features most of you hip scenester needs.

Melissa has planned the next Carnival of Chaos, this time it will be at The Indigo District. Saturday Dec 13th. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Carnival, it is truelly chaotic. It is a multimedia extravaganza that involves so many performances it will make your head spin... or at least Melissa's head spin. High on Peeps has for awhile now ended up the Carnival's house band, but since we have a gig the night before with Basic Assumption at the Vet's Club, and The Ovulators will be playing somewhere secret that night, we won't be performing as part of the chaos. But Melissa's other band, gosh, I don't know the name, but its a new wave kind of cover band, 80's stuff with DJ Lucious, who is called "Tim" when he's not spinning will be fronting the performance. It will be they're first performance and the band members are all extravagant wonders to behold...

As for this weekend, its The Ovulators and Toad In the Hole at Luckey's. Sure to be a blow out since Toad in the Hole has the biggest draw of any local band we've ever played with. We'll be opening, so come early.

And y'know the love of my life Tina Gnosis has her own web site now. Check it out for a hottie rock photo.

earth calling to sky
cover me with downey white
give me a blanket
crisp and cool
connect me to you
with bright falling flakes
let us together turn the world
from drab grey clouds
into a sparkling land
where fairies dance on frozen pools
and children get to stay home from school...

Last night I ended up at Sam Bonds to see
Faun Fables who I have heard absolute raves about since their gig at Tiny's some months back. I spent much of the performance trying to figure a way to discribe this incrediblly visual, emotional, musically skilled ecclectic band. The images and connections were flying through my brain, but words for the pictures were not there. I sat beside Sleve, who held an ear to ear grin that I haven't seen since we were in Los Angeles and he had managed to gather all four itty bitty kitties into his arms. I decided Sleve would be able to get out the words that were mute for me. The only thing I have to say about the band is that I don't think I've ever seen an audience sit in such an entranced state, like children at a puppet show. Here's what Sleve's got to say:

" It's not often that you see a show in Eugene and experience the audience being reduced to total breathless silence. I have seen Faun Fables pull this off twice now here in Eugene. And you weren't there at Sam Bond's on Monday November 17th, I'd bet. Too bad for you!

The Fables are a male-female duo who used to be called The Two Dimensions. Their songs careen between hushed dulcimer-ringing forest goth dreams and heartstoppingly dark and funny cabaret explosions. Lead chanteuse Dawn McCarthy pretty much just put the audience in her pocket last night and walked home with us, treating us to some vocal pyrotechnics that left the room speechless. Nils Frykdahl (of other Oakland insanity such as Idiot Flesh, Charming Hostess, and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum) kept pinning down hyper-accurate riffs on his acoustic guitar, kicked ass on some flute, and took lead vocals for a few of HIS dark tales. Strange tunings, humour, sadness, and virtuosity abounded. AND YOU WEREN"T FUCKING THERE. Don't blow it next time. "

For those who were there: YOU ROCK.
Sleve and I spent the rest of the night drinking until 3am discussing how to act respectfully in a polyamorous relationship. I've really been going through some hellish heart ache over this one lately. I'm a bit confused about how much of my emotional slop I should expose on my blog site, although Sleve tells me thats what blogs are for. Sleve validated me alot, and I must say for some one who has so much skizm in "the scene", I sure do appreciate this boy.

hello bloggers. Well it was a very drunken weekend for me. Friday d came over with some homemade lemon balm wine, so we were pretty schwilly by the time we made it over to Melissa's wild hair affair. I stayed there until the wee hours of the morning, wooing the late comers to the tequila bottle.
The next day I recovered by walking around Eugene with Phil. We went to see a fabulous art exhibit by a woman named Linsey Kennedy. I highly recommend checking out her art. The exhibit is up right now at Cafe Perrigino (not sure how to spell it) located on Willamette just below 8th st. The show is all portraits. I know Linsey through my sister and recognized alot of the models, my sister's one of them. We also dropped by Shawn Mediclast's Museum of Unfine Art to witness the transformation of the shop. He's going to be having a grand opening pretty soon. I can't remember the date, but I'll get that information soon. He's also putting on a show, a musical extravaganza, not this Tuesday, but next Tuesday at John Henry's. Phil's been raving about the last show of Shawn's he was at, so its a must go event. we also dropped by Bill's house, where Takimoto has moved all their equipment and transformed the house into a recording studio, pretty impressive. Then Takimoto got a last minute gig with pellet gun at Samurai Duck. I couldn't make it because of my obligations to my own performance, but I heard they rocked and will be playing Samurai Duck again this Wednesday.
That evening The Ovulators played at The Vets club with The Dead Americans and DJ Lucious. It was a great party. Melissa and I created art by balancing balloons on pint glasses and then varoius items on top of the balloons. It lasted into The Ovulators set, so I got to announce it on stage. Whiskey shots kept showing up on the stage and we kept sucking them down. We played with James again which is becoming super comfortable as he gets familiar with our set, plus he looks great in black and silver make up. James insisted at the end of the set that we play a Cream Cheese reprise. We argued for a while and finally agreed. Luckily Ed Cole, the composer of this great rock song, was there to catch both versions. The Ovulators did lots of falling down and Tina and I grinded our guitars together, Dori almost made it to standing on the bass drum, but the four inch heels prevented it. I went home with rug burn and some gashes in my guitar. I guess I knocked my amp over at some point too. Our playing got sloppier and sloppier, but all in all it was a fantastic stage performance, but the details are fuzzy and if anyone wants to fill in the gaps, please email me.

i've tried to add some links on the side here of all my cool friends, but I'm still working out the kinks...

I don't quite know why, maybe two nights of not going out to the bars has got me all rested up, but last night I was full of energy. The Ovulators practiced with a try out drummer, a woman named Lisa, who is mostly practiced in Latin percussion and is in a band called Mojo. Mojo also has two members from my last band Jason Bradley and Cam D'Paulo. Mojo has a latin feel with Cam rapping and Stephanie swooning her jazzy vocals.
Well, after band practice I went home and went right back to my canning project. Our household has been a canning factory lately. We harvested our garden before the first frost and got a whole load of green tomatos. We also got a tremendous amount of apples that would have all gone into the trash if we didn't take them home. I found a chutney recipe in The Joy of Cooking that uses both green tomatos and apples. What luck. My roommate, Kendra, has been making apple sauce for days, so the canning was already in process. Luckily, Taki Moto was practicing in the basement and Karl (the Kranky Kowboy) is a canning veteran so I had plenty of support and company all the way to midnight while I watched the cans jump around in the huge pot of boiling water. Its so satisfying to use all that food that would have just been composted...
Tomarrow night, Saturday, The Ovulators are putting a party on with The Dead Americans at the Vet's Club. Andrew from the Dead Americans has been putting alot of energy into making this a happening show, with a party vibe. James West will be drumming with us, and Dj lucious from LICK will also be DJing. Come with your glam rock style shinning and you get a discount on the door price. See you there!!!!

Tonite there's two possiblities for going out and catching cool music. The first is Hot for Chocolate playing at Samurai Duck. The Ovulators are going to be playing with their drummer Mike Ronne at one of our performances soon. Mike is amazing. He played drums for The Ovulators at a party on the coast on the spur of the moment. He let us put him in sequins and makeup and then he played with us for FOUR hours. He turned out to have a shinning glam rocker hiding inside, so don't let him fool you with his outer image...
And on the glam rock tip the other happening thing tonite is LICK, hosted by DJ Lucious over at the spankin' new Indigo District (Oak and 13th). I love going to Lick. DJ Lucious always spins alot of Bowie. He focuses on glam rock and electro clash and some other styles of music I don't know the names to. Plus he looks really good dressed up all fancy, fuzzy and fabulous. Sometimes you can catch an Ovulator looking pretty fancy as well while sucking down the whiskey.

OK. Here it is. I am starting my very own blog, simply because I have a lot to say and not enough time to get everyone to listen to me like they should. So, here, in inspiration of local Eugene heroes Mr. Random and Ed Cole, I begin my own ranting web site. And since these two are my inspiration, my blog will contain similar subject matter: my Eugene experiences as a rock n roller and my messy opinions about the Eugene scene and all those who visit us. The main difference between my blog and others is that my adventures are much more exciting...

This weekend started in Corvallis at the Fox and Firkhin gigging with Yeltsin. The Ovulators have lucked out again by winning over the fabulous Yeltsin. We're bonding a rock-n-roll force that will bring the Mothership down so the real party can begin. For those of you who don't know Yeltsin, they are the newest and greatest r ock trio in town. If you've been in the eugene scene, you'll recognize the members from other places, but Yeltsin's sound is fresh and fulfills an audiatory need that no other band can. So, we are honored and excited to build this alliance. You'll be able to check us out together again at John Henry's Dec 19th with Ed Cole and the College Girls of Tora Bora and the High Violets from Portland.

This is the second time we've played the Fox and Firkhin. The people there are always very nice to us and we usually spend our drink tickets on one of their many choices of high shelf whiskey. They have a full menu too. At first, there weren't that many people, but luckily Amy, Firelin and Christa travelled from Eugene, knowing the greatness of the show to ha p pen. Thank goodness for them, because not only were they great fans, but they wooed more and more people into the bar as the night progressed.
Yeltsin played a great set. The last two Yeltsin performances I've seen (the WOW Hall on Tue) held a kind o f solidity formed simply by time spent together, and also a bunch of new songs. During the first song of their set I danced and sang along and had a vision that I was in a crowd of hundreds of people. I knew then that this is Yeltsin's potential. Yelts i n likes to sing songs about school. My favorite lyrics go something like this... "the teacher calls on you to recite a poem, you can't show him what you do best, writing cuss words on your desk."
The Ovulators dressed in stripes and donned Brian Gardin er (pellet gun,Dan Jones and the Squids) as our sit in drummer. Brian was great, I felt much more connected to him this performance, and his dynamics really filled ou t t he songs. I, on the other hand, was terribly intimidated to be performing for Yeltsin's guitarist Jake Pavlak, and my fingers fell onto the fretboard sloppily, finding most notes half a step away from where they should be. I made up my lack of skill wit h my daring stage performance... I'd been eyeing a table top that was parallel to the stage as we were setting up. Standing on anything other than the stage is always a crowd pleaser. So, near the end of the set, I decided to make the move. It wa s a s impl e step, off the stage and on to the table. But the table wasn't that stable (this variable never crossed my mind when I was devising the plan). It felt a little bit wobbily... oh no, wait, its moving... and then ever so slowly, the table bega n tipp ing forward. The rock n roll dieties were clearly on my side at this instant. I rode the table like a surf board with a wave that lifted me up and although my beer went flying into shattering glass and everything else on the table splattered, I glided to the ground and leaned against the table as I continued to play what ever half-a-step off notes I was trying to distract the audience from. Overall, the gig was a hit, and the club said we were welcome back and even replaced my sacrificed beer. But, I did decide I needed to be practicing drills on the guitar on a daily basis if I was ever going to handle a gig in front of Yeltsin again.

But the weekend doesn't end there. The next night we had a performance at Luckey's with an all girl band fro m Seatt le ca lled Tart. Our guest drummer that evening was James West, so Dori, James and I decided to start the evening off at Red Agave, where James works weekends. I'd never been there before. We ate some yummy Ahi and had s ome delicious drinks and were all set for a great evening. James was very insistant that we spent the next day in the movie theatre seeing Kill Bill and Matrix 3. Dori was talking about eclipses and planetary alignment and explained that our atti tudes t hat evening were suppose to have an effect our outlook for years to come. This made the evening that much more interesting. When we got to Luckey's there were already a bunch of women there playing pool and gearing up for an all girl se t. No on e seemed to be bothered by the fact that James doesn't ovulate. In fact, I watched girls gush and fawn over him. He is clearly the biggest rock star of us all. What was curious about this evening was that there was a tremendous amount of people who were there from out of town, all traveling in twos. Close friends in for the weekend, aquaintances from California and blasts from the past attending their first Ovulators show ever. It created a kind of dream space, where you're at this party fi lled with people y ou know, but you don't usually see together, and they are all there, subtly reminding you who you are...
There was a definate queer vibe going on that evening, both boys and girls, which I always like.
This is the first time I've ever booked an out of t own band. It was very satisfying to mill around the crowd as Tart was playing. Every person I stopped to talk to asked about them and said something about how good they were. Tart has a sound clearly influenced by their geography, w ith a stro ng 90's so und. They are a tight band, all good musicians with rotating vocals. They also told me it was OK if we ended up with a boy drummer permanantly. A really cute moment was when they covered a Liz Phair song, d came up and sang a full verse into my ear and then I noticed there were a bunch of boys on the dance floor jumping around together. I'm not familiar with Liz Phair's music, but something moving was clearly happening.
James plays with the Organic Assault Weapons. We stole their halloween outfits, a nd were pirates for the Luckey's gig. Dori had a long black wig on and Tina and I wore pirate hats, we had one good pirate joke, but forgot to say ARGH alot. We are clearly becoming more comfortable with our new set list, and more comfortabl e with our g uest drummers. I played way more smoothly than the night before. We didn't want to stop. Usually, there's some time restriction, but playing with only two bands gave us time to be relaxed and we just continued to add songs into the set list. Should we play one more? Even when we stopped, we were prepared to go all night. I think that's a good attitude to effect my years and years to come.

Testing. Testing 123...
